Welcome to the Gentoo Openmoko overlay
From the Gentoo homepage:
"[...] Gentoo Linux, [is] a special flavor of Linux that can be automatically optimized and customized for just about any application or need. Extreme performance, configurability and a top-notch user and developer community are all hallmarks of the Gentoo experience."
Goals
The goal of this project is to port the well-known community distribution Gentoo to the Openmoko phones. The striking advantages of Gentoo are its customization and optimization abilities. As a flexible meta-distribution based on the pure source code, Gentoo helps to intensively test Openmoko packages under different configurations and settings. Because Gentoo is about choice we do not focus on a single software stack but rather provide the user with alternatives to choose from.
We provide a cross-compilable overlay that includes different Openmoko specific packages and the upstream integration of those packages. We see this project as a place to focus the efforts of individual people on porting Gentoo.
