Relevant portion of output: 

configure: loading site script /usr/share/crossdev/include/site/linux-gnueabi
checking for ./bootstrapped... configure: error: cannot check for file existence when cross compiling

Needed to add -faac to USE flags to allow mplayer compile to continue.
